Surrendering Animals

Effective December 20, 2016, AAS will only be accepting surrenders of owned pets by appointment. Drop-off or same-day owner surrenders will not be accommodated in order to preserve limited space for animals in critical need, such as stray or injured animals.

CatTo inquire about surrendering your pet, please complete the Surrender Request Form. A representative from the ARF Pet Safety Net program, a partner of Antioch Animal Services, will call you within three business days to provide resources to help you keep your pet in your home, or assist you in scheduling a future appointment for surrender. We strongly encourage you to exhaust the re-homing tools and other resources that will be sent in response to your form inquiry as an alternative to surrender. As space permits, pets from the City of Antioch will be admitted to the shelter by appointment.

At your appointment, please bring your ID and surrender fees, as well as all of your pet’s paperwork and veterinary records. If you must surrender your pet, we will do what we can to provide them with the most humane outcome. Please be advised that surrendered pets become the property of Antioch Animal Services and may be considered for adoption, transfer, or euthanasia.

If you cannot access the Surrender Request Form, please send a detailed email to admissions.antioch@gmail.com so that we may assist you.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to ensure the best outcomes for all of Antioch’s animals.
